Guiding Principles
The primary purpose of the band curriculum is to implement
a program of music education which contributes to the development of cultural and aesthetic values appropriate for all students. These
values are taught through music courses and interdisciplinary instruction designed to enrich other phases of the curriculum
in which music plays an intergral part.It is desirable that students have a consistent and continuing developmental experience
in music from year to year. The band program provides a variety of
musical experiences with emphasis on the study and performance of selected musical literature representative of a wide range
of periods, styles, nationalities, form, composers, and media. Community, district, state music resources and activities
are brought to the attention of students and direct participation is encouraged. Performing groups including Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Color Guard Team, and Solo & Ensemble, render
service to the school and community; thus they are important cultural resources as well as learning activities. Students are
provided the encouragement and opportunity to develop musical talents to their full potential. Fundamentally, the band program
increases student understanding and appreciation of the art of music and its relevance to human life. Additionally, the goal
of our band curriculum is the discovery and development of the individuals aptitudes.
